THE INSTITUTE OF KOREAN STDIES is a private non-profit
organization dedicated to encouraging Korean studies, especially
in the fields of the humanities and social sciences, and promoting
academic and cultural exchanges with other nations.
Since its inception in 1968, the Institute of Korean Studies
has assisted in the development of Korean studies through the
publication of its English quarterly journal, the¡¸KOREA OBSERVER¡¹.
At the same time, the Institute has improved the quality of
Korean studies through various types of exchanges with prominent
foreign universities and research institutes.
The Institute plans to expand its activities to positively cope
with the demands and requirements of the 21st Century. First,
the Institute will exert itself to develop the¡¸KOREA OBSERVER¡¹as
one of the leading international journal in Korean studies.
Second, the Institute will regularly host international conference
on Korea once a year. Both domestic and foreign institutions
will participate in this project, thus contributing to the internationalization
of Korean studies. Third, the Institute will regularly hold
the¡¸KOREA FORUM¡¹three times a year. The Forum will invite scholars,
policy analysts, and government officials, and seek desirable
alternatives on the important current policy issues. |
